Recently, scammers have started to use a scheme to extort money by introducing themselves as an employee of Eesti Energia or Enefit, claiming that the electricity meter needs to be replaced. Compared to December, Estonia’s average electricity price increased by 9.1% in January, reaching €92.0 per megawatt-hour (9.2 cents per kilowatt-hour). Compared to January last year, when the electricity price was €126.48 per megawatt-hour, this year’s price was 27.2% lower – a decrease of more than €30. Enefit Solutions and H2Electro are developing a prototype of an electrolyser required for hydrogen and synthesis gas production. With the device, the efficiency of hydrogen technology can be tested and the cost price of hydrogen production can be reduced. Compared with November, the average electricity price in Estonia rose by 2.1% in December to €84.3 per megawatt-hour (MWh), or 8.4 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). All the chargers will be 320 kW ultra-fast chargers that can recharge enough energy to cover 100 kilometres in just a few minutes.

On the morning of 2 October, the electricity price in Estonia fluctuated at 500 EUR/MWh for several hours.

On 9 October, Eesti Energia started providing a manual Frequency Restoration Reserve to the MARI (Manually Activated Reserves Initiative) energy market platform. The sales revenues of Eesti Energia Group amounted to EUR 415.1 million, -0.2% year-on-year, in Q2 2024. Reported group EBITDA was EUR 153.5 million (+42.5% year-on-year), while adjusted EBITDA* was at EUR 158.9 million (+37.4%). The Group's reported net profit was at EUR 103.1 million (+141.6% year-on-year), adjusted net profit at EUR 108.5 million (+114.5%).
Eesti Energia’s CFO, Marlen Tamm, explained that the group’s sales revenue remained at the same level as the previous year, and the results were influenced by a significant increase in renewable energy production and, on the other hand, a decrease in electricity production from oil shale. ‘Eesti Energia's focus on low-carbon power generation will enable us to offer more competitively priced electricity to the electricity market and at the same time improve the group’s financial performance,’ said Tamm.
Ülemiste Centre has become an even greener and more convenient stop for electric vehicle owners. The shopping centre’s indoor parking now features seven 50 kW and one 22 kW electric vehicle chargers, while the outdoor parking area includes one 22 kW and one 50 kW charger, which will have its capacity increased to a remarkable 120 kW in the future.

The Energy Discovery Centre, housed in what used to be Tallinn’s first power plant, celebrated its 10th anniversary last month. Enefit Volt, the largest public electric car charging network in Estonia, has started replacing chargers that were previously part of the Elmo network. The installation work began in June and is planned to take place until the end of 2024.
