Eesti Energia's sales figures for June

Eesti Energia's sales of electricity in June amounted to 778 GWh, an increase of 8.6 percent compared to June last year.

Eesti Energia sold 437 GWh of electricity to retail customers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, 2.5 percent less compared to June of last year. On the power exchanges and to electricity distributors 341 GWh was sold, which is 27.2 percent more than in the same month last year.

Eesti Energia sold 399 GWh of electricity to retail market customers in Estonia in June (4.3 percent less compared to June last year), 29 GWh in Latvia (8.1 percent less) and 9 GWh in Lithuania (sales were under 0.1 GWh last year).

The continued growth in industrial output in Estonia presumably had a positive impact on sales in June. The impact of ambient temperature on Estonian sales in June was modest. Compared to June of last year the ambient temperature was 0.5 degrees higher.

Starting from the 1st of April 2010, the sale of electricity in Estonia has been affected by the real opening of the electricity market and the start of the Nord Pool Spot power exchange's Estlink price area. Sales in Lithuania are being affected by the agreed sales contract for 2010, the starting of the BaltPool power exchange in connection with the opening of the electricity market in early 2010 and the addition of new retail customers in the electricity market opened in Lithuania.

In June, Eesti Energia's average selling price of electricity to the captive market, not including network services, was 485 kroons per megawatt hour (kr/MWh). The average base electricity price during the same period was 601 kr/MWh in Nord Pool's Estlink price area and 657 kr/MWh in Nord Pool's Finnish price area.

In June of the current year Eesti Energia produced 9 thousand tonnes (60 thousand barrels) of liquid fuel, which is 10.6 percent less than June last year. The decrease in volumes of production arose from the reduction in operation time of equipment. The sales price of liquid fuels is affected by the world market price of crude oil through the world market price of liquid oil – in June, the average price of Brent crude oil was €61.4/ barrel, 25.1 percent more in comparison to June last year.

Eesti Energia's sales of thermal energy amounted to 14 GWh in June, which is 4.3 percent less than in the same month last year.
