Correction of Elering rates to affect consumers through network fees

03.10.2011
Adjustments to Elering rates will affect Jaotusvõrk (Distribution Network) prices: electricity bills are to increase by 1.3 per cent on average.

Transmission system operator Elering received approval from the Competition Authority for plans to increase the average transmission service fee from 1.05 cents per kWh to 1.13 cents per kWh. The new price will apply from 1 January 2012. The price correction will affect consumers through their transmission system operators, which coordinate the respective network fees with the Competition Authority in an amount equal to the price increase applied by Elering.

Leering's service price accounts for over 1/3 of the network fee from Eesti Energia Jaotusvõrk OÜ . Therefore, the Competition Authority has also adjusted the network fee applied by Jaotusvõrk. Since the network service accounts for slightly more than one third of the average electricity bill, the new Elering transmission service fee will increase bills for Eesti Energia customers by 1.3 per cent (on average). For users of the most popular "Home 1" package this will result in an average monthly increase of 38 cents or a yearly increase of 4.56 euro.

The new pricelist for network services from Jaotusvõrk was published today in the major newspapers and on our website www.energia.ee. The pricelist will come into force from 1 January 2012.

Elering AS is an independent transmission system operator that offers transmission services in the high-voltage grid. Eesti Energia Jaotusvõrk OÜ is the largest distribution network company in Estonia delivering electricity to end consumers.
