Eesti Energia's sales figures for April

In April, Eesti Energia sold 599 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity in Estonia, which is 1.6% more than in April 2009. Due to the partial opening of the electricity market in Estonia as of 1 April 2010, Eesti Energia also sold electricity to the Nord Pool Estlink energy exchange. Eesti Energia sales of electricity on the open market amounted to 138 GWh in April. Sales on the closed market to business and residential customers amounted to 352 GWh of electricity. Sales to network operators amounted to 109 GWh. Eesti Energia's sales of electricity were impacted by the partial opening of the electricity market in Estonia, the projected growth in industrial output and the 0.3-degree lower ambient temperature compared to last April. Export of electricity amounted to 106 GWh in April 2010, which is 3.9% more than a year ago in the same month. The growth in the export volumes was due to increased export of electricity to Lithuania in connection with closure of Ignalina nuclear plant and the opening of Lithuania's electricity market. In April, Eesti Energia's average selling price of electricity in Estonia, not including network services, was 522 kroons per megawatt hour (kr/MWh). The average base electricity price during the same period in Nord Pool's Estlink region was 560 kr/MWh; and in Nord Pool's Finnish region, 684 kr/MWh. Eesti Energia's sales of thermal energy amounted to 99 GWh in April , which is 9.9% more than a year ago in April. Maia Burlaka
