On 30 March 2006, with a view to promote cooperation among transmission system operators of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania the non-profit organization BALTSOwas established with member organizations who only are legal persons and have been granted a power transmission licence in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. BALTSO’ primary objectives are to coordinate parallel operation of power systems in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, development of the Baltic network code, coordination of the Baltic 330 kV network design and modelling of the Baltic 330 kV network, as well as facilitate communication with other transmission system operators in other countries.
