Enefit's high-speed internet network will reach more than 20,000 homes this year

07.03.2021

Enefit Connect, a subsidiary of Eesti Energia, which is developing Enefit high-speed internet and television network, plans to create a connection opportunity for more than 20,000 new addresses in 2021.

From the beginning of January this year, the possibility to connect to the Enefit high-speed internet and television network has already been created for 5,625 homes in Harju, Lääne-Viru, Rapla, Tartu and Võru counties.

The goal is to reach more than 20,000 new addresses in 2021, ie to double the number of connection opportunities created in the previous two years. Thus, the company's goal for 2021 is to offer Enefit high-speed internet and television network connection to more than 47,000 customers in all corners of Estonia by the end of the year. In 2019-2020, the possibility to connect to the high-speed Internet network was created for 22,423 customers.

According to Jaanus Tiisvend, Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Connect, the company is constantly increasing the construction volumes of the communications network, and the selection of new areas is based on where a high-speed Internet and television network solution can be offered to as many addresses as possible.

"High-speed fiber-optic internet is our future, it should be widely available. Through the development of a high-speed internet and television network, we will help Estonian residents cope better in the new situation and make life more comfortable. When working from home office or performing school tasks, a functioning network connection is becoming increasingly important. Our goal is to offer our service in a smarter and more personalised way in order to meet the needs and expectations of our customers even better,” commented Tiisvend.

Today, the Enefit high-speed internet and television network being developed by Enefit Connect covers more than 12 counties. By the end of 2021, the plan is to operate a modern internet network in 14 counties all over Estonia.

“Everyone can check on Eesti Energia's website whether their address is included into Enefit high-speed internet and television network construction plans. If it isn't at the moment, you can make a request there, and I definitely encourage you to do so. This will make it clearer where the interest is and we can take it into account in our future development plans," said Tiisvend.

Enefit Connect is a subsidiary of Eesti Energia, which manages various electricity networks and a great part of Estonia’s street lighting network, develops a high-speed Internet network and a modern electric car charging network, and offers new energy solutions based on modern technology.
