Check your knowledge of recycling!

Every day at the Iru power plant we can see that the people in Estonia are not very good at sorting their garbage. Most of the Iru mixed municipal solid waste is made of waste that should have been collected separately and sent for recycling.

The mixed municipal solid waste at Iru is made up of metal, large quantities of paper and cardboard, plastic, packages but also construction and industrial waste, household appliances and other recyclable materials that should never end up as mixed solid waste. The fact that the old habit of throwing everything into one bin has not disappeared is indicated by the statistics: 26–27% of mixed municipal solid waste is collected separately whereas the progressive states in the European Union collect 55-60%.

Check your knowledge of recycling by dragging the waste into the correct bin.
