Geothermal heating i.e. ground source heat pump

The most economical heating solution

Home heating directly from the ground

Geothermal heating takes energy from the earth's crust, it uses a special liquid that brings it to the heat pump which in turn heats the floor or radiators.

Geothermal heating is the most efficient type of heating, i.e. more than 4 times more economical than electric heating, and works efficiently even in very cold weather. It is also possible to produce daily domestic hot water several times more efficiently than with an electric water heater.

Dear customers!

At the moment, it is temporarily not possible to order ground source heat pumps. We apologise for the inconvenience!

Ground collector and ground source heat pump installation

A geothermal heating system consists of a geothermal collector and a ground source heat pump.

Outer part installation

It is necessary to have free ground around the building to install the collector, because the piping is dug horizontally into the ground to a depth of about a metre.

Inner part installation

The indoor heat pump is connected to the collector and the heating system is filled with antifreeze.

Fast introduction

Depending on the size and complexity of the system, the installation usually takes 1-3 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Geothermal heating or ground source heat pump draws energy from the earth's crust. In spring and summer, the sun melts the soil that contains absorbed rainwater. This energy is "picked up" by a ground collector, i.e a horizontal pipeline built to a depth of one meter. The energy is brought to a heat pump with a special liquid and transferred to the heating water, which in turn heats the floor or radiators.
The geothermal heat pump is the most efficient type of heating, it is more than four times more economical than electric heating. It is also possible to produce daily domestic hot water several times more efficiently than with an electric water heater.
The installation of a ground source heat pump is divided into several stages. Usually, a ground collector is installed in the ground first, which takes 1-3 working days. The ground source heat pump is then installed and connected to the ground collector. In the last stage, the ground collector is filled with refrigerant and the heating system with heating water or heat carrier. Finally, the electrical connections are made, the heat pump is set up and the system check is carried out. Installing and setting up a ground source heat pump and ground collector takes usually 3-5 working days in total.
Installing a geothermal heat pump requires free land. Generally, 1 m2 of heated space in a private house requires at least 4 m2 of available land area. In other words, if the heated area of the building is 100 m2, then the available for excavation area must be approx. 400 m2 so that the geothermal heat pump can be installed
If there is free area, be sure to give priority to geothermal heating. Although installing a ground source heat pump takes more time and the initial investment is higher, it pays off in the long run because of the greater energy savings and longer life.

Alterra ON/OFF

Alpha Innotec

Available capacities:
4,7 - 29,6 kW

Warranty:
5 years

Product sheet (PDF)

High-quality German origin ON/OFF type ground source heat pump with control automation in Estonian. An ON/OFF type device is much cheaper than an inverter type device, and it is a suitable choice for houses with a small plot, as the ground coupling can be slightly smaller than with inverter pumps, if needed. The models are characterized by an extremely high heat factor (SCOP is in the range of 5-6 on all models) and energy class A+++, meaning very low heating costs. Alpha Innotec devices are provided with unique technical support - the device will remain under the watchful eyes of maintenance technicians after installation, thus ensuring peace of mind, if desired. Models with an integrated 180-litre as well as external (200-500-litre) water heater for domestic hot water available. With integrated remote control. Equipment with cooling module is also available.

  • Suitable for heating: 60...1000 m2
  • Energy class in heating: A+++
