Remember last summer? The following solution keeps the heat away
Home
The solution is – air conditioning! As the summers pass, the more Estonian homes install this device. We would hereby like to refute the common misconceptions that go with air conditioners. In addition, we are sharing energy saving tips and interesting facts.

Air conditioners are meant for summer use and for air cooling only.
The air conditioner is like an air source heat pump that works in two ways: it cools in warm weather and heats in cold weather.
It is suitable as a complete heat source in spring and autumn, when using your main heater is not necessary. Up to an outdoor temperature of 0°C, the air conditioner can handle heating well.
However, a more efficient option for year-round use is an air source heat pump, as it can operate in cold temperatures down to -35°C, depending on the model.
Continuous operation of the air conditioner saves more electricity than switching it on and off
Electricity can only be saved when it is not consumed. Therefore, you can turn off your air conditioner when leaving home. At the same time, you can easily help keep the temperature down by:
Air conditioners are noisy.
The indoor noise level of an average air conditioner is in the range of 19-37 dB. The first levels of noise are practically inaudible for the human ear, the higher ones are comparable to, for example, quiet nature or computer noise.
Eesti Energia has also Samsung’s wind-free technology air conditioners available. These work especially quietly, as cool and fresh air spreads imperceptibly into the room through thousands of micro-vents
The bigger the air conditioner I buy, the faster it cools my room and the less electricity it consumes.
Larger air conditioners consume more electricity, but they are not much more effective in removing air moisture. However, a smaller device may not cool your room enough.
It is important to purchase an air conditioner corresponding to the square meters of the area to be cooled, this will ensure the most optimal energy consumption.
Eesti Energia has several different air conditioners to choose from. Our specialists will support you in choosing an air conditioner and help you find the right device for your needs.

It doesn't make much difference where the air conditioner is installed.
In fact, the location affects how well the air conditioner works. The air conditioner should not be located in the immediate vicinity of luminaires or electrical appliances, as the heat they emit may affect the accuracy of temperature measurements.
Direct exposure to sunlight should also be avoided and care should be taken to ensure that nothing obstructs the flow of air. The farther the air conditioner can blow air, the better: if there are obstacles in the way, cold air will sink and not be transferred to other rooms. The device works best in an open space, such as an open plan kitchen and living room.
All air conditioners are the same.
The development of technology leaves its mark on air conditioners as well. Timer, remote control, motion sensor, mobile control, air drying – these are just some of the extras that air conditioners already have.
It is also a well-known truth that the higher the energy class of a device, the less energy it consumes.
Prolonged exposure to conditioned air can cause colds.
Colds are caused by viruses, not cool air. However, temperatures set too low can make you feel bad. If you raise the temperature, you will feel better.
Be sure to service the air conditioner regularly and clean the vents and air filter periodically. This prevents the accumulation of allergens – dust, mold, bacteria – and their entering the air circulation. Many air conditioners have an air ionization system that kills bacteria.
Although air conditioning ensures a pleasant indoor climate and even temperature, it is important to ventilate the rooms every once in a while.
